- Online registration — scanned copies (PDF/JPEG) uploaded on the counselling portal

1. Core Academic & Identity Documents (Required for Everyone)
- NEET UG 2026 Admit Card
- NEET UG 2026 Rank Letter / Scorecard
- Class 10 Certificate/Marksheet (proof of date of birth)
- Class 12 Certificate/Marksheet (proof of subjects and eligibility)
- Class 12 Passing Certificate (if marksheet doesn’t confirm passing status)

2. Category & Reservation Certificates (If Applicable)
- SC/ST/OBC-NCL Certificate — must be current and issued by a competent authority
- OBC-NCL certificates specifically must be valid for the ongoing financial year and clearly state “Non-Creamy Layer”
- EWS (Economically Weaker Section) Certificate — issued within the prescribed validity window
- PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability) Certificate, where applicable, along with disability assessment documents
3. Domicile & State-Specific Documents (For State Quota Counselling)
- Domicile/Residence Certificate of the respective state
- School/institution study certificates proving the required years of residence or education in the state (requirements vary by state)
- Parent’s employment or residence proof, in states where domicile can be claimed through a parent’s posting
4. NRI / OCI Quota Documents (If Applicable)
- NRI sponsorship affidavit
- Passport and visa of the sponsoring NRI relative
- Relationship proof/certificate between the candidate and the NRI sponsor
- Embassy or consulate attestation, where required by the admitting institution
5. Additional Documents Some Colleges/States May Request
- Migration Certificate
- Character/Conduct Certificate from the last attended institution
- Medical fitness certificate
- Gap year affidavit (if there’s a break between Class 12 and NEET attempt)
- Anti-ragging affidavit (student and parent, as per UGC/MCI-NMC format)

Document Preparation Checklist: Format & Practical Tips
Based on what consistently trips students up during verification:
- File format: Upload scanned documents strictly in the format specified on the counselling portal (usually PDF or JPEG) — incorrect formats are a common cause of upload rejection
- File size: Most portals cap document size between 10 KB and 200 KB, with photographs often under 50 KB — compress accordingly without losing legibility
- Self-attestation: Write “Self-Attested” and sign every photocopy before carrying it to your reporting college
- Multiple copies: Carry at least 3 complete sets of photocopies — colleges often have multiple verification counters, each requiring its own set
- Photograph specifications: Recent photo, white background, no spectacles, matching the dimensions specified by the counselling authority
- Original + photocopy together: Always carry originals alongside photocopies — verification officers typically check both side by side
- Organise before you go: Arrange your document folder in the same order as the college’s verification checklist to speed up processing on reporting day
Common Mistakes We See Students Make
- Using an expired or outdated category certificate — especially OBC-NCL certificates, which have strict annual validity
- Assuming one state’s domicile certificate works for another state’s counselling — domicile rules are state-specific and non-transferable
- Waiting until the reporting deadline to arrange NRI sponsorship documents — these often require notarization or embassy attestation, which takes time
- Submitting blurry or low-resolution scans — leads to portal rejection and lost registration time
- Not carrying enough photocopy sets, causing delays at multiple verification counters on reporting day

Q: Can I use my state’s OBC certificate for MCC (AIQ) counselling? A: Category certificates generally need to conform to the central government’s prescribed format for AIQ counselling, which can differ from your state’s format.
